Hornet Cafe is our student-led business where opportunities of social, communicative and vocational skills are gained in a "restaurant or food truck" environment. Our cafe specializes in breakfast tacos, egg bowls, muffins and cinnamon rolls.
Every Thursday, is our meal prepping day. Students crack/beat eggs, cook meat protein (bacon, sausage, chorizo), peel/dice/fry potatoes, make salsa, bake muffins, etc. On Fridays, we sell our breakfast tacos and baked goods to staff members. They are also expected to participate in kitchen cleaning duties, prepare the register, among other business-related job skills. Every student in FAC has the opportunity to work in our cafe through various roles and jobs.
The funds earned from our cafe not only help support various community-based instructional activities, but builds relationships with our students among staff members at Hopewell.
